3. LOCATION. By now, you already know where you want to build on the additional space, but do you know whether you need to add it -- to the back, side, or above the house? Have you thought about style? 5. CONSTRUCTION. Prior to construction, along with your design-builder, choose the other construction elements (fixtures, cabinets, counters, flooring, paint colors etc.) that you’d like to see in your new space. Adding a bathroom or kitchen will have different costs (plumbing and wiring) associated than if adding a bedroom or family room. So if you’re adding space that will have appliances (electrical) and fixtures (running water) these items will be tallied into the costs “materials”. The Builder will determine exactly how much of each material is needed to complete your remodel. It is key to know in advance all of the materials used to have an excat construction cost before going into the construction phase.
